Because controlling bleeding can save a life
Stop The Bleed is an international campaign promoted by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), whose goal is to provide everyone—with or without medical experience—with the tools and knowledge necessary to control life-threatening bleeding.
Severe bleeding can cause death in just minutes. In accidents, natural disasters, attacks, or other traumatic events, those on the scene before emergency teams arrive may be the first and only chance to save a life.

THE HARTFORD CONSENSUS
The American College of Surgeons convened the Joint Committee on Increasing Survivability from Active Shooter and Intentional Mass Casualty Events in response to the increasing number and severity of these events. The committee met in Hartford, Connecticut, and developed a series of recommendation documents. The documents represent the consensus opinion of a multidisciplinary committee involving medical groups, the military, the National Security Council, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services. These recommendations are known as the Hartford Consensus. The overarching principle of the Hartford Consensus is that no one should die from uncontrolled bleeding. The Hartford Consensus recommends that all citizens learn how to stop bleeding.
Stop the Bleed en Chile
Since its arrival in Chile with our first official course in February 2018, Stop the Bleed Chile has actively worked to train the population, healthcare professionals, teachers, workers, rescue teams, and ordinary citizens, promoting a culture of immediate response to emergencies involving critical bleeding. Thanks to the collaboration of institutions, volunteers, and training centers such as the Emergency and Rescue Training Center (ERTC), the campaign has reached dozens of communities and regions, training hundreds of people each year. Through certified courses, access to hemorrhage control kits, educational talks, and practical simulations, we are strengthening our community's preparedness to act effectively when every second counts.
